Tempering
With
30 years in the glass business and 25 years of tempering we figure we've got
it right by now. We've grown through three different furnaces over the years
and currently run with a state-of-the-art HHH Horizontal Tempering furnace.
This computer-controlled machine allows us to temper glass to 84" wide and over
200" long. We have tempered up to 205" in length but try to avoid it because
of the strain on our tempering staff.
Glass thickness? from 3mm to 19mm
(3/4") and patterned and slump glass with overall thickness up to 25mm (1").
This ability has given architects and designers use of some extremely unique
pattern & slump glass, while still allowing their use in tempered glass applications.
This
furnace utilizes an internal convection system, which allows Garibaldi to
temper the latest in highly efficient soft coat Low-E glass available today.
This glas, soft surface and insulating quality makes it very difficult
to temper without scratching. The convection airflow ensures the glass heats
evenly while positioned with the delicate insulated coating facing upwards.
Garibaldi's ability to temper this glass has allowed our local architects
to achieve previously unheard of insulating coefficients
in clear glass and so create near see though buildings, with little or no
spandrel areas.
